Before I go, check out Vanity Fair’s articleabout NYPL’s Anti-Prom. As Jack Martin explains, “Anti-Prom is for kids who can’t spend $1000 on a dance, or can’t safely bring a same-sex date, or who simply have subversive personalities.” (Why wasn’t this around when I was a teen??)
Maybe I’m just emotional this week, but the comments from the teens actually brought a tear to my eye. I love that a new generation of teens is not only coming into libraries, but consider the library their second home- and consider the people they meet there “family.”
Thanks to NYPL YA librarian extraordinaire, Amy Chow for the link.
