Crazy Hats

Once a month I do a program called Stories and Crafts. During May our theme was Crazy Hats. We read Caps For Sale by Esphyr Slobodkina, Milo’s Hat Trick by Jon Agee, and The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins by Dr.Seuss. Then, everybody got to make one of these:

We used a big circle of construction paper with a large radius cut for the basic cone shape. Then the kids added any combination of feathers, sequins, scrap paper, and assorted “stuff” we could find. Here’s another creation I made with the help of my pal, Isabella:

I told the kids we should submit our designs to next year’s Fashion Week. Bryant Park here we come!
