My friend Valerie, a high school English teacher in NYC, just started Bookjacket, a blog about books and teaching. She not only reviews, but examines the literature with an eye towards curriculum and building dynamic lessons for high schoolers. In her current post, she discusses Marjane Satrapi’s Persepolis and how it can be used with young teens to foster a world perspective- something, Valerie argues, needs to happen well before twelfth grade. I agree.
Definitely a blog to keep an eye on!
